First Day Hike at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park invites you and your family to come out for a First Day Hike on January 1 with two hikes scheduled this year. Enjoy the first day of the New Year leisurely exploring the park with a Ranger to learn about the park and its wildlife.

First Day Hike Jan 1 2018
9am – 11:30am: 4 mile hike
2pm – 3:30pm: 1.5 mile hike

Participants attending at 9:00am will enjoy a longer four mile round trip hike. Those coming at 2:00pm will enjoy an easier mile and a half walk. Both trails are relatively flat with roots, rock and dirt. To enjoy the First Day Hike to the fullest, wear weather appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. Bring water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Please check in at the Ranger Station for starting location.Program is free with regular park admission.

A Park Ranger will take you on a hike along the north side of the Turpentine Trail. Participants will learn about the park, its wildlife, and the turpentine industry that thrived here in the late 1800’s.  Enter the park through the main gate and park staff will direct you to tram stop 2. Pet friendly event.
